Let it Rain

I have made a series of artworks with rain as theme.  Rain to me means refreshment; replenishment; provision; blessing; promise of new life.

These are large, multi-media works in bright colours.

I pour blue and grey diluted oil paint onto my canvas and using gravity let it drip downward in vertical lines, much like rain. In the foreground, I make a collage of various fynbos plants and flowers in a variety of art media: lino prints; water colour; pen-and-ink drawings and oil paint. I use embroidery stitches to connect all the loose artworks onto the large canvas to create an abundant flower garden – bursting with new life: Calling forth Rain!
