During late spring and early summer, the Erica flowers blanket the mountain in vibrant shades of magenta. I never tire of these brilliant pinks. In this painting, I combined the delicate Erica blooms with the soft green cones of Brunia and the sculptural branches of Proteas, dried and weathered after the last wildfire.

Perception
The way in which I identify, organise, experience, and interpret the world around me shapes my perception. Through my senses, I become aware of both the physical and the spiritual, allowing me to make sense of what I encounter.
When I observe the fynbos, I absorb its shapes, colours, textures, and rhythms. I spend countless hours walking among these remarkable plants until they become deeply familiar, settling into both my memory and my understanding. When I paint them, I am not simply reproducing what I have seen. I create something entirely new—an intuitive response shaped by my own perception. My paintings are an interpretation rather than a record; an expression of how I have experienced the landscape.
I do not believe I create alone. Throughout my creative process, I sense the guidance of a higher power. I believe the Creator of the universe works through me, using my perception, my hands, and my heart to create art that reflects His glory. My desire is to magnify the beauty of creation and, through it, the goodness of its Creator.
If my paintings bring joy, peace, or wonder to those who encounter them—whether they simply pause to look or choose to live with them in their homes—then they have fulfilled their purpose.
