Art on the Mountain initiative

For the past six months, I’ve been working towards a dream: to bring art, nature, and community together on the summit of Table Mountain. This vision is now becoming a reality with Art on Table Mountain — an initiative running from 13 October to 30 November 2025, in collaboration with Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and a growing network of artists, conservationists, and media partners.

At its heart, the project is about celebrating Cape Town, fynbos, and Table Mountain through art. By gathering artists on the mountain, we’re creating a vibrant space that invites people to connect with nature in a fresh and memorable way. Visitors can look forward to an inspiring mix of creativity and collaboration, with Table Mountain itself as both canvas and backdrop.

Throughout the initiative, I will paint fynbos-inspired scenes from a dedicated studio inside Views by De Grendel Wines, above the top Cableway station. On select days, local artists whose work is shaped by Cape Town and its flora will join me — a true celebration of creativity in the very environment that inspires it.

Our Goals

Art on Table Mountain is about more than art-making. It’s a celebration of fynbos as a South African treasure, a showcase of Cape Town’s creative spirit, and a platform that strengthens collaboration between artists, conservationists, and businesses. It offers visitors — both local and from abroad — a once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing art come to life on the mountain itself, while supporting the local creative economy.

Follow the Journey

Over the coming weeks, I’ll share regular updates here and on social media platforms:  behind-the-scenes glimpses of life in the mountain studio, artworks as they unfold, visiting artists and their contributions, and highlights from conservation talks and collaborations.

I hope you’ll follow along, join the conversation, and share in this unique celebration of art and nature.

Let’s create, connect, and inspire — together on Table Mountain.
